Alachua County, Florida Goes Live with Govinity Tenure, Marking First Major Milestone in County-Wide Legislative Management Modernization

After using multiple systems across multiple vendors in a short time frame, Alachua County partnered directly with the team it already trusted - becoming a founding partner of Govinity. The Tenure go-live is the first major milestone in the County's implementation of a comprehensive legislative management platform.
GAINESVILLE, FL - Govinity, Inc. today announced that Alachua County, Florida has gone live with Govinity Tenure, the company's boards and commissions management solution. The launch marks the first major milestone in the County's implementation of a comprehensive legislative management platform - and the latest chapter in a partnership built on a track record that predates Govinity itself.
A problem worth solving once and for all
Like many local governments, Alachua County knows firsthand how difficult it is to find public meeting management software that actually works the way clerks, staff, and elected officials need it to. Over a short span of time, the County worked with multiple systems across multiple vendors - each falling short of the County's requirements for managing the full lifecycle of its legislative work.
Rather than trying yet another product off the shelf, the County chose a different path: partner directly with the product and engineering team it already trusted. That team - the same one that built ProcureNow, the government procurement platform later acquired by OpenGov - had proven it could take a broken category of government software and rebuild it from the ground up around the people who actually use it.
That decision made Alachua County one of Govinity's founding partners, working alongside the Govinity team as a co-design partner to shape the product from its earliest stages.
Alachua County didn't just buy software - they helped build it. After years with market solutions that didn't fit, they bet on a team instead of a product. Going live with Tenure today is the first proof point of that bet, and it won't be the last.
Tenure goes live
Govinity Tenure gives the County a modern system for managing its boards, commissions, and advisory bodies - including memberships, appointments, terms, vacancies, and the staff who support each body. What has historically lived in spreadsheets, paper files, and institutional memory now lives in a single system designed specifically for the realities of public governance.
The road ahead: a full legislative management solution
The Tenure go-live is step one of a broader initiative. Alachua County is continuing to finalize the implementation of a full legislative management solution spanning four products across two solution providers - an integrated architecture covering the County's legislative process end to end, from boards and commissions through agenda management, public meetings, and the official record.
As implementation continues, the County and Govinity will bring additional capabilities online in phases, ensuring each rollout is grounded in the day-to-day workflows of County staff.
